the advantages and disadvantages of various plastic raw materials

Polystyrene (polystyrene , PS) has good rigidity, transparency, surface gloss and electrical insulation, easy to process molding, low density, good water resistance and chemical corrosion resistance, low moisture absorption. But the disadvantage is that the mechanical strength is not high, hard and brittle, poor heat resistance, flammable.
Polypropylene (polypropylene , PP) has excellent electrical insulation, good chemical resistance and water resistance, its strength, rigidity, and heat resistance are better than low-pressure polyethylene, and it has rich sources, cheap, non-toxic, tasteless, and density Small, good fluidity, easy processing and other advantages. However, there are shortcomings such as brittle, non-wear-resistant, easy to age, and large shrinkage rate of products at low temperature. Mixing with most polymers presents the problem of poor compatibility.
Polyethylene (polyethylene , PE) is insoluble in any known solvent at room temperature, has excellent chemical resistance and electrical insulation properties, low water permeability, but by oxygen in the air, ultraviolet radiation and heat, the aging performance is poor. Low-temperature impact strength is low, and size reduction occurs when heated.
Polyvinyl chloride (polyvinyl chloride , PVC) has the advantages of good chemical stability, flame resistance and self-extinguishing, wear resistance, noise reduction and shock reduction, high strength, electrical air tightness, low cost, and wide material sources. The disadvantage is that the thermal stability is poor, and the effect of light, heat and oxygen is easy to age.
Phenolic plastic (phenolic plastics) has high mechanical strength, hard wear resistance, dimensional stability, heat resistance, flame resistance, corrosion resistance, excellent electrical properties, and a wide range of raw materials, low price, simple preparation method. Its main disadvantages are poor arc resistance, dielectric properties will change with the change of frequency, and easy to absorb moisture, low tensile strength and impact strength.
Acrylonitrile-butadiene - styrene copolymer (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer , ABS) has good comprehensive properties, such as heat resistance, high surface hardness, dimensional stability, good chemical resistance and electrical properties, excellent impact strength and wear resistance, easy molding and machining, but it will soften and swell after long-term contact with hydrocarbons. ABS surface by glacial acetic acid, vegetable oil and other chemicals can also cause stress cracking.
Polyamide (polyamide , PA) has excellent wear resistance and self-lubrication, high heat resistance and mechanical strength, excellent low temperature resistance, self-extinguishing, hydrocarbon, ketone, ester and other chemicals, oil resistance, and easy molding, non-toxic, easy to dye, but high water absorption, light resistance, oxidation resistance, hydrolysis resistance and poor dimensional stability.
Polycarbonate (polycarbonate , PC) transparency can reach more than 90%, rigid and tough, with high impact resistance, high dimensional stability and a wide range of use temperature, good electrical insulation and heat resistance and non-toxicity, burning slowly, but its products crack resistance and poor drug resistance, high temperature easy hydrolysis, poor compatibility with other polymers, no self-lubricating, the moisture contained in the high temperature processing process will cause its hydrolysis, resulting in a sharp decline in its relative molecular mass, resin discoloration, products appear bubbles and even cracks.
If you can match the material with a new formula, will form a more high-quality finished product.
